Personally, i dont have any experience in Corel Draw. But for now, i really really love adobe photoshop. You can create anything and everything you want. I like to work with CS3, CS4 and CS5, i dont want to try lightroom as said by others it is only good for photographers and not for designers. True or not, nothing beats CS5 for me. What do u think? Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw?

Both are good. With different capability and aptitude, both produce an excellent quality upshot. The idea is “how it can be use and learn” different practices apply to all software users especially when using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw. References:

I like Adobe Photoshop but Corel is great too. Ive been using adobe for a long time. I started using adobe when they launched adobe photoshop 6.0 and started upgrading to 7.0 and so on. I agree with Belesa, different practices apply to all users. It depends on how you can manage and understand the software.

I used Adobe and Corel for graphic designing. For photo editing, Adobe Photoshop. For animation Adobe and Ulead. For posters Corel Draw.

Agree with Belesa, both are good or even great. And when it comes to tutorials, these two software have very big differences. Corel doesn’t have enough sources for tutorials unlike Adobe which has thousands of tutorials existing in search engines.

.cdr is a corel draw file. You cannot view the file in any othersoftware. I would recommend you to use Corel for the .cdr files. Theyare much more compatible with corel and easy to use also. Get coreldraw 9.0 or earlier and install it in your computer. If you want youcan also use Corel PaintShop Pro to view and edit those files.
